Australian law firm Hall & Wilcox has hired a 20-strong team from DibbsBarker's Brisbane office. The new team specialises in workers’ compensation, personal injuries and product liability and acts for companies including WorkCover Queensland, MIGA, Anglo Coal, Ramsey Health and Avant. Led by DibbsBarker's head of insurance industry and insurance services group,Terry Killian and head of product liability Kelli Stallard, it also includes partner Angela Brookes.
Better value
The team complements Hall & Wilcox’s national insurance practice, particularly its statutory insurance and workers’ compensation practice, Rhett Slocombe, who leads the national insurance practice, said. He said the firm planed to leverage this position to deliver better value and ‘Smarter Law’ to clients.
Start-up hub
Hall & Wilcox has partnered with Asia’s leading fintech start-up hub. Last month the firm entered into a corporate partnership with Stone & Chalk to attract the start-up community. A not-for-profit organisation, Stone & Chalk supports fintech start-ups dedicated to rapidly scale and commercialise. With 350 entrepreneurs now working in more than 110 start-ups which have raised more than $211 in funding, the organisation has created more than 500 jobs. As part of its programme, Hall & Wilcox has introduced a 'frank” service offering, with forthright advice, resources, and connections at its core.
