Gie manages the brand protection practice at LXA Attorneys and is a regular speaker about anti-counterfeiting at international conferences. Gie is also responsible for the LXA’s membership of the INCOPRO Legal Network, and since 2017 he has been an UDRP arbitrator at the Czech Arbitration Court, where he is a panelist for domain name disputes. He is an active member of ECTA’s Anti-Counterfeit Committee and vice-chair since 2021. Gie’s team serves over 30 brand owners, handling hundreds of cases with his team every year, ranging from sportswear, fashion, lingerie, luxury goods, fragrances, consumer electronics, toys, phone accessories, hair care and eyewear. His team resolves the vast majority of cases cost-neutrally, making the brand protection program in the Netherlands on balance self-funding for clients. He was admitted to the Dutch bar in 2011.
