Miriam has over 25 years’ experience as an intellectual property advisor and is the Practice Leader of the Allens Intellectual Property, Patents & Trade Marks Attorneys group. A highly regarded litigator, Miriam has acted in some of Australia’s most significant IP cases involving patents, copyright, trade marks, designs, breaches of confidential information, misleading and deceptive conduct, and passing off. She works with Australian and multi-national corporations across the media and entertainment, manufacturing, financial services, sports and technology sectors to develop strategies for the protection, commercialisation and enforcement of their IP rights. Miriam also provides strategic brand protection and advertising advice, and handles the trade mark portfolios for some of Australia’s and the world’s most recognisable brands. Miriam also assists clients in structuring their IP arrangements and has substantial experience advising on the intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions and major projects, including complex, high-value transactions involving investments in, and acquisitions of, IP-rich businesses and challenging IP separation issues across a broad range of industries and sectors. She is the current Deputy Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Council of Australia.
