Counterfeiting cuts across virtually every product sector, and Toyosi serves clients in various industries, including food and beverage, software, electronics, pharmaceuticals, fashion and luxury goods, consumer products, sports, music and entertainment. He is skilled at managing domain name and trade name conflicts and he also works to protect clients from reputational damage caused by online imposters, false endorsements, and other deceptive marketing scams. Toyosi has cognate experience in trade marks law and practice throughout Africa, and has been involved in developing trans-border brand protection strategies for clients within the African continent. Toyosi takes a collaborative approach to IP enforcement and frequently draws from an extensive network of brand, law enforcement, regulators and online platform contacts to resolve cases of infringement quickly and effectively. He has negotiated voluntary agreements and developed alliances with various intermediaries, including Jumia, Jiji, Konga and other major e-commerce and payment processors, to improve their responsiveness to rights holder reports of online infringement. Toyosi is particularly skilled at IP enforcement which utilises an “open and shut” approach to attack infringers to achieve an early closure of IP disputes. Toyosi has been a frequent speaker on issues related to IP enforcement, data protection, pharmacovigilance and brand protection strategies. He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) (and their Anticounterfeiting committee) and is a regular attendee of each association’s annual conference.
