DAC Beachcroft says it is delighted a seven-strong team of senior insurance lawyers will be joining Liam O'Connell, who left his position as Norton Rose Fulbright's head of the EMEA insurance claims team in May 2019, to head up DAC Beachcroft's global London Insurance practice.

Pivotal hires

The team includes insurance litigation partner Kirsty  Hick and the team will complete their move from Norton Rose Fulbright’s insurance claims practice by September 2019. A highly regarded insurance practitioner, Kirsty has acted for many of the leading global and London market insurers. She advises on complex coverage and defence issues, particularly in relation to high-value negligence claims against accountants, insurance brokers and financial institutions. Kirsty also has particular expertise in warranty and indemnity claims. Solicitor Tamsin Stott joined Liam last month and the five other lawyers joining are legal directors Rebecca Bailey and Sarah O’Connell, senior associates Jack Holling, Natasha Marshall and Cathryn Teverson. “These strategic hires are pivotal as we continue to expand and strengthen key lines of our global insurance business," said Helen Faulkner, DAC Beachcroft's global head of insurance.

Global ambitions

Ms Faulkner welcomed  team, saying “Their arrival further strengthens our skills, experience and expertise and enables us to continue creating sustainable value for the clients we serve. This is a significant development as we drive forward our global insurance ambitions.” DAC Beachcroft has one of the largest insurance practices among UK law firms, operating from 11 UK locations, as well as internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile. This year, the firm launched two new offices, in Belfast and Paris, in order to service its expanding domestic and international insurance client base.
