Backing diversity

Providing role models to counter homophobic bullying is imperative.

The London office of international law firm Brown Rudnick played host on 16 October 2012 to a networking event in support of Diversity Role Models (DRM), a charity that works to prevent homophobic bullying in schools, using positive role models to counter negative stereotypes.

As a member of Brown Rudnick's Diversity Committee, I welcomed over 60 professionals from organisations such as Accenture, Microsoft, Credit Suisse and the Home Office, to the event.

DRM’s new Chairman, Simon Blake OBE is to be congratulated on the charity’s work.  It is important for Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Trans Gender (LBGT)  members of the professions and the business world to stand up and be counted, both to support diversity and inclusion within our professional environments and to act as role models for the next generation.

The event was organised in liaison with the Radius Business Network, and took place in Brown Rudnick’s historic offices in the heart of Mayfair. DRM is supported by a host of high profile figures, including paralympian Claire Harvey, and Gareth Thomas, the first openly gay international rugby player.
