Allen & Overy (A&O), Baker McKenzie, Clyde & Co and CMS are among the international law firms shortlisted for the inaugural Women in in Law Awards alongside a host of top women lawyers.
The UK awards, which will take place online on 11 November, are being supported by The Global Legal Post, with the finalists having been whittled down from 800 nominations.
The shortlist for Law Firm of the Year (Large Firms) comprises Hill Dickinson, Shoosmiths and Simmons & Simons, alongside Bakers and CMS while A&O and Clydes are among the contenders for Gender Diversity Project of the Year.
Individual awards include Woman of the Year, Mentor of the Year and Outstanding Returner of the Year.
Among the nominees for Law Firm Leader of the Year are Lesley Gregory, chair of Memery Crystal, Elizabeth Ward, founder and principal of Virtuoso Legal, and CMS senior partner Penelope Warne, while Entrepreneur of the Year finalists include Mary Bonsor, co-founder and CEO of online student resourcing platform F-LEX, and Janet Cooper, chair and founder of law firm Tapestry Compliance.
Other individual categories include Mentor of the Year, Outstanding Returner of the Year and Male Diversity Champion of the Year alongside an array of practice-focused awards.
The judging panel includes Evelyn Styles, UK and Ireland general counsel at Hays; Kathleen Russ, senior partner at Travers Smith; Joanna Harris, head of responsible business at Simmons & Simmons; Tuvia Borok, executive director and senior counsel, legal department, Goldman Sachs; and Nicholas Cheffings, chair of PRIME, an alliance of law firms across the UK that is committed to improving access to the legal profession through work experience.
These awards are the latest in a series of diversity events delivered by Incisive Media, including The Women in Insurance Awards, The Women in Accountancy and Finance Awards and The Women in Investment Awards.
