John Handoll joins the firm from Dublin practice William Fry, The Lawyer reports.
Handoll has more than 30 years experience in Irish and EU competion law, State aids, public procurement and telecommunications.
In a statement he said: “I am privileged to have this unmissable opportunity to work with Amarchand Mangaldas and especially its competition team. Competition law and policy is developing apace in India and I look forward to bringing my skills to bear on this exciting area. I believe that my knowledge of, and expertise in European Union law will enhance the Firm’s already strong practice in competition and regulation.”
 Amarchand competition head Pallavi Shroff said Handoll’s appointment was a “real coup” for the firm.  Amarchand has 21 competition lawyers on its team.
