Apple complains at fees of Goodwin Procter partner

Apple says that it has never come across a higher rate than the US$1,100 an hour which Michael Bromwich is proposing to charge in his role as a judge-appointed monitor.

The Goodwin Procter partner has been appointed to oversee anti-trust compliance issues on e-books pricing. But Apple said in a statement: 'Mr. Bromwich appears to be simply taking advantage of the fact that there is no competition here or, in his view, any ability on the part of Apple, the subject of his authority, to push back on his demands.'  According to statements filed by Apple, Mr Bromwich is charging a 15 per cent admin fee as well as his hourly rate and the cost of hiring other lawyers to help him.
