The practice – which, ranked by 2010 revenue, took the top law firm position in the recent Beaton450 professional services league table, with a turnover of $2.26 million and a headcount of 4,455 -- has also added more than 50 lateral partners in key practice areas and jurisdictions over the past year.
‘We have responded with confidence to client demands for more senior and experienced counsel from their outside law firms,’ said Eduardo Leite, chairman of the firm’s executive committee. ‘Clients want greater value, and with the growth of our partner ranks, we continue to be well-equipped to respond to that expectation.’
Co-ordinated first
All the announced promotions involve senior associates moving to salaried partner status. A Baker & McKenzie spokesman confirmed that several existing salaried partners had also been promoted into the firm’s equity, but he declined to specify numbers or names.
The spokesman for the firm pointed out that the announcement market the first co-ordinated statement on partnership promotions made by the firm, meaning that there were no publically comparable figures.
