‘We have responded with confidence to client demands for more senior and experienced counsel from their outside law firms,’ said Eduardo Leite, chairman of the firm’s executive committee. ‘Clients want greater value, and with the growth of our partner ranks, we continue to be well-equipped to respond to that expectation.’

Co-ordinated first

All the announced promotions involve senior associates moving to salaried partner status. A Baker & McKenzie spokesman confirmed that several existing salaried partners had also been promoted into the firm’s equity, but he declined to specify numbers or names.
The spokesman for the firm pointed out that the announcement market the first co-ordinated statement on partnership promotions made by the firm, meaning that there were no publically comparable figures.
