Baker McKenzie has selected iManage to replace its on-premises document management system. Baker McKenzie will deploy iManage Work, Share, Records Manager and Threat Manager in the iManage Cloud as its comprehensive and secure productivity and governance platform for its 13,000+ professionals in 78 offices across 6 continents.
Collaboration
A key focus for the decision was the objective of addressing work product management needs, including compliance and regulatory requirements regarding the privacy and storage of sensitive client data. The iManage Cloud’s ability to meet Baker McKenzie's unique data residency challenges in which all client information, not just documents, is stored in specific countries, was seen as a critical differentiator by Baker McKenzie. The addition of iManage Threat Manager will protect the firm from today’s threats and allow suspicious behavior to be identified and addressed in a matter of hours versus weeks or longer. Collaboration across multiple sites and iManage's product vision were additional key drivers cited in selecting the iManage platform. “To support our lawyers in delivering the best possible legal services to our clients, we needed a secure, world-class, cloud-based system that our attorneys can access on any device, anytime, anywhere around the world – and iManage fit the bill perfectly,” said Dan Surowiec, chief information officer at Baker McKenzie. “iManage’s modern cloud architecture, intuitive interface, powerful search and robust security will help us transform our work practices and enable our attorneys to work smarter, safer and more efficiently.”
Future proofed
Using iManage Work and Share, Baker McKenzie’s attorneys will be able to more easily collaborate on work product with their colleagues as well as clients, partner firms and outside consultants without sacrificing security and governance of their clients’ critical data. Smart search capabilities powered by the RAVN AI engine will make it much easier for Baker McKenzie’s attorneys to find the information and expertise they need to better serve their clients. “We have vast amounts of knowledge accumulated within the firm and technologies like RAVN AI will enable us to tap into that knowledge to serve clients in more innovative ways,” said Mr Surowiec, adding “Our selection of iManage will help future-proof the firm for the coming decades.” Neil Araujo, ceo of iManage. “The ability to store all client information in specific geographies is essential. But, to operate effectively, a firm still has to enable search, access and collaboration on its information.” Mr Araujo said the company now counts 8 out of 10 of the leading global law firms on the iManage platform, 3 joining in the past 12 months, most recently Clifford Chance in March.
