A conflict of interest has blocked the proposed merger of talks San Franciscan firms Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe. Talks were called off before the two signed a letter of intent or took a partnership vote. In a joint statement, they said they decided not to proceed with the merger ‘due to prospective client conflicts that we have not been able to resolve, notwithstanding each firm’s best efforts.’ Source: Bloomberg
