The head of the Supreme Court, Lord Neuberger has stated that Brexit will be good for the UK legal sector serving as a 'spur' to city law firms and boost the UK's role as the world's top hub for legal disputes.

Lord Neuberger essentialy has said that Brexit could make Britain even more important as a legal centre and removing the role of EU law actually allow for a more flexible legal system. The President of the Supreme Court is adamant that Britain will retain its status as ‘the world centre for legal services’and that Brexit would in fact act as a ‘spur’ to encourage law firms to expand further.

Determined

He said: ‘We are determined that the UK’s forthcoming exit from the European Union will in no way undermine London’s status as the world centre for legal services generally and dispute resolution in particular…Brexit is operating as a spur to encourage all involved in the provision of legal services in London to strive to ensure that those services are even better than they already are.’

Contrary view

His comments fly in the face of many of those who campaigned to remain who have consistently argued that London status as a global center of excellence for legal services would be under threat if the country’s business tied with Europe were watered down as a result of Brexit.
