The firm – which has targeted the technology sector and the venture capitalists around it for the last 50 years and already has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong – announced that partner Li Kefei will head the Beijing office, having joined the firm last April from the local office of New York-based Skadden.

Technology hub

A report in The Lawyer newspaper quotes the firm’s co-managing partner, Jack Sheridan, commenting on the move: ‘Beijing is a hub for technology companies and growth enterprises as well as capital markets, private equity, venture capital, and cross-border M&A activities. That confluence makes it a natural fit for the firm and critical to serving the diverse needs of our clients in the region.’
The newspaper says the firm is planning on staffing the Beijing branch with a mix of corporate, intellectual property and licensing lawyers.
