The Canadian Bar Association’s scheme includes moves by its access to justice committee to investigate the legal needs of low and middle income people, and what the profession can do to improve access to justice while keeping governments accountable, according to the Law Times web site.

Tracking client demand

A study into the current legal environment will also be launched, aimed at tracking trends and predicting client demand to better train the next generation of lawyers. The association will also create an on-line guide to help firms measure diversity performance.
CBA President Trinda Ernst commented: ‘These projects centre on a vision for justice and how that can be achieved. The initiatives are at the heart of what the CBA is all about and will enhance our association’s offering both to members and to the public.’
