Caribbean law firm targets Jamaican entrepreneurs

Lex Caribbean, the regional law firm, has set up its Entrepreneurial Business Unit (EBU) in Jamaica as the Jamaican government seeks to ease the path of new small businesses.

Falmouth, Jamaica

The firm prides itself on being the only regional firm in the Caribbean with offices in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Jamaica and a satellite office in London. Its EBU offers reduced rates for start-ups and small businesses.

Cover the bases

The EBU offers numerous services for start-ups, including company registration, commercial contracts and seeking finance. Maia Wilson, senior associate at the firm, said: 'The idea is that they are supposed to be succeeding and we are supposed to be helping them to grow and cover all their bases. So we do their trademarks, we make sure their contracts are tight, et cetera.' Source: Jamaica Gleaner
