LVMH, Charlotte Tilbury, Fashionphile and Goodwood Estate are among the top brands to have secured trophies at the Luxury Law Awards.
They were joined on the roster of winners by Gung Ho, Bottletop, MWoven, L'Oréal and Jaguar Landrover, as well as the law firms Bird & Bird, K&L Gates, Pryor Cashman, Crowell & Moring and Loeb & Loeb.
The Lifetime Achievement in Luxury Law award was presented to ‘business legend, lawyer and writer’ Arrigo Cipriani.
The awards were presented during a ceremony at the Luxury Law Summit Europe, which was held at The British Museum in London yesterday.
The market-leading event for luxury lawyers, executives, designers and entrepreneurs successfully reverted to an in-person format after going online in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Among the keynote speakers were: Laudomia Pucci, president of Emilio Pucci Heritage, Anita Balchandani, partner and leader EMEA apparel at McKinsey's Fashion & Luxury Group, and Kristina Blahnik, chief executive of Manolo Blahnik.
Among the top awards were Legal Team of the Year, which went to Charlotte Tilbury, while the Goodwood Estate’s Kate Palka was recipient of the prestigious Marella Naj-Oleari Luxury Business In-House General Counsel of the Year award.
The Charlotte Tilbury team were recognised for their role helping to drive the makeup and skincare brand’s international growth after Spanish fashion and fragrances giant Puig acquired a majority stake in the business in June last year.
Palka, meanwhile, was commended for her work helping the Goodwood Estate, which runs a series of iconic events, navigate the pitfalls of Covid-19. The judges described her as an ‘all-round GC [who] has uniquely ensured the appropriate international IP protection for the Group’s curatorial, photography and digital design departments’.
Another lawyer to have caught the attention of the judges was Fashionphile’s Nikita Patel – the first employed lawyer at the US online fashion retailer. She was was named Luxury Law Rising Star, while L'Oréal’s Joanne Loughrey secured the Business Leader of the Year award for her work creating a Code of Conduct for influencer marketing aimed at raising standards in this £5bn industry.
Law firms to triumph at the awards included Bird & Bird, which was named Luxury Law Firm of the Year, Loeb & Loeb, which secured the award for Best New Luxury Law Firm Practice, and K&L Gates, whose partner Arthur Artinian walked away with the Partner of the Year accolade.
