Clayton Utz is one of a few national firms which publish their income figures on a regular basis. The fall of $18.7 million occurred in financial year 2013. But chief executive Darryl McDonough told Lawyers Weekly that the results were not particularly negative: 'In the overall scheme of things that is next to nothing, having regard to the economic climate we’re in at the present time.' Australia has had a tough year, as it h has been knocked back by the fall in demand for its commodities from China.

The practice also publishes its plans for its own fees. It intends to increase these by 3.1 per cent on average this year and by 2.5 per cent in 2014. But these increases mirror expected inflation levels, according to the firm.
