This was one of the conclusions that come out of a round table discussion to launch 'Big Data: Clouding the issues', a Global Legal Post report, published in association with Recommind. All agree that information governance (IG) is a looming topic that needs to be addressed by organisations. But specialists think that IG policies will need to be kept up to date with the rapid development of technology.

Taking steps on information governance

While many businesses have yet to introduce IG policies on their emails and other mainstream documents, some specialist lawyers are thinking about areas such as Twitter where employees are often being given the power to tweet without always being instructed on how to do it safely. One of the findings of the report is that the energy and TMT sectors both see the establishment of executive committees to manage the IG area as an effective way of managing IG issues. The report can be downloaded from the home page of Global Legal Post.
