Cooley has hired a new chief operating officer from Fried Frank.

Victor Nuñez has joined the firm in New York after nearly four years as COO at Fried Frank and brings nearly 20 years of experience in professional services operations at law firms and financial services organisations. At Cooley he will be responsible for overseeing business operations on a global basis.

“Victor’s deep operations experience will be invaluable as we enhance the firm’s internal infrastructure to support future growth,” said Cooley CEO Rachel Proffitt. “He will be a tremendous addition to the leadership team and we are delighted to welcome him to Cooley.”

Proffitt took over the CEO role at the start of the year from veteran leader Joe Conroy, becoming the first woman to head the West Coast firm. Conroy has continued as chairman.

For his part Nuñez has succeeded Cooley veteran Lisanne Morales, who has spent the past eight years as global chief operating and financial officer and has continued in the CFO role.

Before joining Fried Frank Nuñez served as the global chief financial officer of Norton Rose Fulbright, as COO for the Americas at White & Case and as part of the global financial services group at American Express.

“Cooley is an exceptional firm with a distinctive culture that is compelling,” Nuñez said. “I look forward to partnering with our lawyers and business professionals to drive operational excellence and provide the highest level of service to our clients and practices.”
