Dow Lohnes has been in talks with a string of firms over the summer, having lost about half of its lawyers since 2010. Excluded from the merger deal are the 12 lawyers in the Dow Lohnes office in Atlanta. Cooley is well known for its IT company practice. Cooley opened in Washington only eight years ago while Dow Lohnes has 95 years of experience in the Washington area, specialising in communications and working for the Federal Communications Commission, according to the Washington Post.
