The recuiter, Alan Metz, alleged last week  that the firm used his information to acquire litigation partner Martin Rogers from Clifford Chance and 17 other lawyers in his team but excluded him from the deal so they wouldn’t have to pay him, law360 reports.
Metz claimed that he attempted to connect Rogers with Davis Polk, having described  him anonymously but in a way which Davis Polk could interpret who he was talking to - but Davis Polk said it was not interested at that time. 

A shock

Polk began negotiating with Rogers in secret and they publicly announced their partnership  in December, according to the suit. The suit says this was a shock to Metz who was unaware of their communication. The lawsuit claims that Metz provided Polk with financial information about Rogers to eventually aid in the hiring. Metz is asking for $1.4m (£899,000), which he argues is the sum of his recruitment fees. Davis Polk has refused to comment.
