Delhi rape case lawyer could face disciplinary

A decision will be taken shortly on whether the lawyer who represented two of the four men found guilty of raping a woman on a Delhi bus is to face a disciplinary hearing.

Disciplinary hearing to be held for Delhi lawyer Alexandra Lande

After the case, AP Singh, said that he would have 'burned my daughter alive' if she were having 'premarital sex and went out late at night with her boyfriend'. He has subsequently said that his personal views were being taken out of context.

Bar intervenes

Nevertheless, Delhi Bar Council vice-chairman Rakesh Sherawat told the BBC that the comments amount to 'professional misconduct' and that the lawyer 'could lose his licence for life if found guilty'. The Delhi Bar Council is imminently to decide how to proceed.
