Mergers are a successful part of the formula for clients, according to Dentons which says it has won more than 1,500 engagements since its last merger in March. Talking of the current merger discussions, McKenna's Washington DC managing partner Joanne Zimolzak said: 'It's really driven by clients.' She was speaking at the National Law Journal Regulatory Summit in the city. From the Dentons side, Bruce Fried, managing partner of the DC office, also spoke positively about mergers. Another Washington office head, Grace Speights of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, added that a merger is always a possible route in her firm. But she added that the recruitment of smaller units of lawyers is seen as preferable than combinations. And she said: 'There are many big law firms and many well-known firms that are struggling and you know that. And so, you watch those firms.' Source: Legal Times
