Following the merger of SNR Denton, Salans and Canadian firm Fraser Milner Casgrain in March, Latin America is the only continent the firm lacks an office or alliance in.
The firm’s global chief executive Elliott Portnoy told Legal Week that the region was of ‘strategic and economic importance’ to clients, and confirmed that the firm was actively seeking out opportunities in the area.
Mr Portnoy pointed to the energy, natural resources, finance and manufacturing sectors as key factors in the firm’s decision to land in Latin America. He also suggested that a combination or team move would be considered, but no relationships have yet been formalised.
