Forbes India reports that many firms have already made inroads into lucrative legal space by offering services to fulfil legal tasks such as writing lease agreements, intellectual property filings and non-disclosure agreements with the help of technology and a backend that employs a few lawyers.
Responsibility
For tasks which require a physical lawyer, the DIY firm will recommend one and take responsibility for the quality of the service.
Websites such as Vakilsearch, NovoJuris and TM Guru have already established themselves in the legal market, while Indiadesk is expected to land in December.
Indiadesk’s Abhinav Maker, who recently quit his job at law firm Amarchand Mangaldas, told Forbes that the DIY style will allow clients to deal with simple tasks much more efficiently. ‘At their core, contracts are just a bunch of options,’ he said. At Indiadesk, clients will be able to log in, enter details and print the agreement in less than 15 minutes, all at 10 per cent of a lawyer’s fee.
