DLA hails bumper round of promotions

Anglo-US international law firm DLA Piper has become the latest firm to announce its 2012 promotions, and has done so with a bang -- adding no fewer than 58 lawyers to the firm's global partnership.

Tony Angel: a 'testatment to talent'

The promotions – which span 15 countries and a wide spectrum of practice areas -- are effective from 1 January 2012 in the US and 1 May 2012 for jurisdictions in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, subject to any necessary local regulatory filings.
The firm’s corporate department saw the lion’s share of promotions with 14 new partners. It was followed by intellectual property (11), litigation and regulatory (10) and finance and projects (eight).
The firm -- formed in 2005 by a merger between San Diego-based Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, Chicago-based Piper Rudnick and London-based DLA – stayed true to its roots with 22 new partners in the US and 12 UK appointments. Continental Europe was also heavily invested in, with 17 promotions.
Tony Angel, the firm’s new global co-chairman commented: ‘These promotions demonstrate our significant strengths across each region and within each practice area and are testament to the talent that resides within the firm.’
