Dublin looks set to deliver on legal reforms

Comments from a senior Irish politician imply that the country will follow through on planned legal reforms despite exiting from the EU bailout plan next month.

Dublin: Legal reforms on the way

The legal reforms were part of a package which were promised as part of the 2010 bailout for the country. So far the Dublin government has delivered on over 200 other steps. Brendan Howlin, minister for public expenditure, is quoted in The Financial Times as implying fulfilment of the remaining promises when he said: 'We will deliver on our own commitments.' Looking to the situation in six weeks' time when the exit will have taken place, he continued: 'We are also in a different [European] regime now. The discipline of external oversight is one that is shared with every member of the common currency because we all realise we have a stake in each others’ performance.'
