Mr Ecclestone has been under investigation in Germany for some time. Last year, a banker was convicted of corruption after receiving payments from Mr Ecclestone connected with the sale of the sport in 2005, reports the Financial Times.
German enforcers have now confirmed the investigations have concluded, and the F1 chief executive will soon discover whether or not he faces charges.
A few quid
However, Mr Ecclestone defiantly told the FT that he expected to be assisting private equity group CVC’s plans to float F1 in Singapore this year.
Mr Ecclestone also denied claims that he was willing to settle the case financially by paying a fine.
‘I don’t think you can do these things. It’s not a conversation to have. You can’t be charged and then you hope to pay a few quid,’ he said.
