Experts to debate blockchain's growing influence in luxury sector at online seminar

Webinar in association with Bird & Bird will feature senior figures from two advanced tech start-ups

Blockchain experts will join partners from Bird & Bird to debate the technology’s growing role in the luxury sector at a web seminar next Wednesday.

The online event, which is being hosted by the Luxury Law Alliance in association with Bird & Bird, features Calogero Scibetta, head of business development at London blockchain start up Everledger, and Dr Henry Franks, chief software officer at PowerX Technology.

The panel will be chaired by Frederick Mostert, of counsel at Bird & Bird and chair at of the Luxury Law Alliance, which is affiliated with The Global Legal Post. He will be joined by colleagues London-based commercial partner Jonathan Emmanuel and Danish tech partner Martin von Haller Grønbæk.

Entitled Is Blockchain Soon to be an Essential Feature for the Luxury Sector? the interactive webinar will brief delegates on how the technology is developing and provide practical advice on its uses in the luxury sector.

Blockchain has seen different levels of success across industries and attendees can expect to gain insight into luxury good related areas including supply chain management and counterfeit prevention.

London-based start-up Everledger has a stated goal of ‘making supply chains more sustainable’. Its blockchain ledger sets out to record the ‘lifetime journey’ of diamonds, gemstones, minerals, art and other luxury goods. PowerX Technology’s Franks, meanwhile, is founder of Elasticine, which provides software for agencies in the creative industries.
