Withers has added three new lawyers to its Los Angeles office to further support its US growth strategy.

The London-based firm has hired partners Deborah Greaves from Brutzkus Gubner and Joe Tagliaferro from Sichenzia Ross Ference, with special counsel Barry Brust also joining from Sichenzia. The trio bring with them a broad range of expertise, adding further IP, employment law, asset management, corporate and financial services capabilities to Withers’ LA office.

Jeremy Wakeham, head of Withers’ business division, said the hires "complement our focus on key sectors such as tech, entertainment and fashion, and will be of great use to our clients in those areas. We are continuing to look for strategic partner and team hires in the US as we build up our strengths to meet the needs of our clients.”

The trio are the latest additions to the LA team following the hiring of IP partner and fashion technology specialist Gina Bibby in October last year, who also joined from Brutzkus Gubner where she worked alongside Greaves.

Greaves has worked with leading brands in the fashion and consumer goods sectors and specialises in areas such as IP, brand enforcement, regulatory compliance and corporate governance. Greaves also previously worked in-house as general counsel at designer jeans-maker True Religion Apparel.

Tagliaferro was managing partner at Sichenzia Ross Ference for six months before joining Withers, and prior to that was a partner and global co-chair of CKR Law’s corporate and securities practice, advising entrepreneurs, high net-worth investors, investment funds, asset managers and family offices on securities transactions and other financial and regulatory matters.

Brust—who worked with Tagliaferro at Sichenzia and CKR before that—also brings with him corporate and securities law expertise, particularly related to fund formation, M&A and capital markets deals.

Last month, Withers announced the hire of Martin Auerbach In New York as head of white collar defence and investigations.

In the same month, San Francisco-based law firm Hanson Bridgett, which has won plaudits for its high representation of women lawyers, appointed its first-ever female managing partner, Kristina Lawson.
