Field Fisher Waterhouse has tied the knot with a 14 lawyer Chinese law firm.

Field Fisher Waterhouse merges with Shanghai's Ryser & Associates

London-based law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse has announced a strategic merge with three partner Chinese law firm Ryser & Associates, effective today. The Chinese firm will adopt Field Fisher Waterhouse's branding under the name Field Fisher Ryser and will operate as a financially separate partnership. Ryser & Associates was set up in 2004 by ex Baker & McKenzie IP lawyer Zoe Zhan and specialises in intellectual property and corporate law, serving clients from China, Japan, the EU, the US, Singapore and Russia.

Complementary services

Commenting on the move, Ms Zhan said that the combination 'provides our clients with a pan-European legal service, which perfectly complements out Chinese law capabilities.'
Managing Partner Michael Chissick said that the merger gives FFW 'a credible base in China built on the IP/IT and corporate focus of both firms.' He added: ' We hope Field Fisher Ryser will continue to grow over the next few years and help our clients realise their ambitions and strategic plans in China whilst also enabling us to better service our growing Chinese client base.'
