Fish & Richardson top on patent litigation activity

Boston-based Fish & Richardson leads the activity rankings on patent litigation in the US, followed by Farney Daniels and DLA Piper.

The Lex Machina rankings, shown in the 2013 Patent Litigation Year in Review, show that the 350-lawyer Fish & Richardson had 308 open cases in 308. Farney Daniels had 216 and DLA had 188. Winston & Strawn came in 4th (165) and Kirkland & Ellis 5th (154).  Apple was the most commonly named defendant in 2013 cases, followed by Amazon. A total of 6,092 cases were filed in the US District Courts as patent cases in the year, up 12.4 per cent on 2012. Source: Lex Machina
