The role of two general counsel - who are accused of advising homeowner associations to take over properties and then bring lucrative construction litigation actions through co-conspirators - will be examined in the trial starting this week.

The two - Keith Gregory and Barry Levinson - were indicted in January 2013. Investigations have run for seven years; there have been 37 guilty pleas; and three suicides have taken place of people connected to the affair. Keith Gregory is one of four people accused in the trial. Barry Levinson has already pleaded guilty to a felony charge of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. The charges relate to 11 different housing asociations in condominiums between 2003 and 2009, the use of straw buyers and rigged condominum elections. Source: ABA
