General Counsel from brands including Mulberry, Abercrombie & Kent, Nestlé and Kempinski Hotels will gather next week to explore the impact of the ESG movement on the luxury sector at a Global Legal Post web seminar.
The online event on Thursday 20 January is being chaired by Kate Anthony Wilkinson, group general counsel and company secretary of Mulberry Group, and is hosted by the Luxury Law Alliance, the world's premier global network for in-house counsel, founders, executives and brand managers in the sector.
State of Luxury Law: The ESG Imperative will explore how luxury brands are responding to the growing importance of ESG across all aspects of luxury brands’ operations in light of the ESG movement’s growing influence and research showing that luxury consumers are more likely to buy products from brands that can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.
The first panel will be led by Wilkinson and feature Michael Ellis, general counsel of Abercrombie & Kent, David Chameli, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Crystal Clean, and Karim Adatia, vice president and deputy general counsel of Insight Enterprises.
It will look at ESG’s three components – environmental, social and governance – drawing on the panelist’s experience, which includes Chameli’s focus on environmental law and Adatia’s insight into supply chain optimisation and the ‘connected workforce’.
The second panel will explore how different sectors are impacted by ESG. It will feature Hadrian Beltrametti-Walker, executive vice president and general counsel at Kempinski Hotels, Jeffrey Hellman, senior vice president and assistant general counsel at PVH – whose brands include Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Warner's – and Esteban Mezzano, general counsel operations and sustainability at Nestlé.
Wilkinson and Beltrametti-Walker are members of the Luxury Law Alliance’s advisory board, which chose the theme for the event.
The two-hour programme, which kicks off at 3pm GMT, 10am EST, is complimentary, with delegate places exclusively reserved for in-house teams and management in luxury brands and partners of the Luxury Law Alliance.
