GCs held back on data policies by team dynamics

Over half (53%) of in-house lawyers who have not introduced information governance (IG) policies and solutions attribute the failure to 'lack of co-ordination' with colleagues in different departments.

The Information Governance Report reveals reasons behind the failure to introduce policies and solutions Kzenon

The need to introduce IG policies and solutions comes through in 'The Information Governance Report', a Global Legal Post report produced in association with Recommind. Nearly half (47%) of respondents cite the issue as being 'one of the biggest risks facing organisations over the next 5 years'. However, only 50% of respondents say that they do have a solution in place.

 Co-ordination issues

Lack of co-ordination is a major block to introducing policies and solutions, and in keeping them up to date - because IT teams, administrators, security staff and users all need to be involved in designing the way forward. At the launch of the report this week, there was considerable agreement among the lawyers and other experts present that systems of this kind are likely to be poorly implemented in practice if other stakeholders are not involved. The report will be launched on Monday 28th October and available for download from the Global Legal Post.
