Senior IP and brand protection experts from global companies including Diageo, GSK, Tommy Hilfiger, Tencent and Havaianas are among the main-stage speakers at this year’s Anti-Counterfeiting World Law Summit in London, taking place in October.
The theme of this year’s summit is Protecting Brands in the Digital Age and it will ask how businesses can best combat counterfeiters and pursue successful enforcement strategies as commerce shifts increasingly online.
The in-person event will take place at The Caledonian Club in Belgravia on 18 October. Attendees will learn about anti-counterfeiting strategies in a post-Covid world. There will also be discussions about the global threat of counterfeit medical devices and how the use of civil trademark actions can lead the fight back against it.
Delegates will discover how to develop an anti-counterfeiting strategy for the metaverse – as well as how the metaverse and NFTs will impact brands in the future. With the increased focus on environmental, social and governance responsibilities, a panel will discuss the sustainable disposal of counterfeit goods.
Headline speakers include summit chair Louise Butler, global head of brand protection at drinks giant Diageo; Jenny Barker, director of global anti-counterfeiting at pharma and biotech company GSK; Mark Bearfoot, senior legal director for IP and brand protection at fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe; Kirsty Bracher, international brand protection manager at flip flop-maker Havaianas and Danielle Prince, international IP enforcement director at phone grip-maker Popsockets.
Delegates will also be able to choose from a variety of interactive workshops based on their interests. Topics to be covered include new methods of track and trace, brand protection advice in China and managing IP in the metaverse.
The summit, which is hosted by The Global Legal Post, will conclude with the official launch of the Law Over Borders Anti-counterfeiting comparative guide and networking drinks.
Sponsors of the summit include Cervieri Monsuarez, Corsearch, Countercheck, Epstein Drangel, Kestenberg Siegal Lipkus, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler and Stobbs.
