Global firms grab roles on Brazilian healthcare deal

London-based Linklaters and New York heavyweight Sullivan & Cromwell have scooped roles on UnitedHealth Group's buy out of a controlling stake in Brazilian health insurer and care provider Amil Participacoes for $4.9bn.

Local Brazilian firm Pinheiro Neto Advogados is also in on the action, advising UnitedHealth on Brazilian law aspects included in the deal.

Magic circle firm Linklaters acted for Rio de Janeiro-based Amil, working with its local association firm Lefosse Advogados, reports The Lawyer.  The Linklaters  team was led by US corporate head Alberto Luzarraga, while the Lefosse team included Carlos Barbosa Mello, Gustavo Lian Haddad and Sérgio Machado.
Minnesota-based UnitedHealth were advised by Sullivan, with a team was led by corporate partner Keith Pagnani which included Latin American corporate finance expert Sergio Galvis.
