Greenberg Traurig expands Mexican operation

The law firm has taken on lawyers from a local firm, including the founder.

Greenberg Traurig is upping its game in Mexico City dubassy

International law firm Greenberg Traurig is boosting its Mexico City office with the addition of José Raz Guzmán and Miguel Moisés of Raz Guzman Abogados. They bring four associates and four law clerks with them.  Raz Guzmán will serve as Managing Shareholder of the Mexico City office and work closely with the founding shareholders of the Mexico City office, Luis Rubio Barnetche,Juan Manuel González Bernal, Luis Octavio Núñez and Daniel Saltzberg Koris. 

Unique platform

‘When we launched the Mexico City office in 2011, our vision was to build an office based upon Greenberg Traurig’s unique platform and culture,’ said Richard A. Rosenbaum, CEO of Greenberg Traurig. ‘It was a challenge that has been successfully met by our Mexico City team under the leadership of Luis Rubio Barnetche, who will continue to serve as Chairman  of the Mexico City office, and Juan Manuel Gonzalez, a key member of our Global Infrastructure practice, who will continue to lead our award-winning infrastructure practice in Mexico,’ he added. ‘With the addition of José Raz Guzmán, who is a highly distinguished attorney with a sterling reputation for excellence, client service and legal leadership, we build upon these achievements.’

Financial background

Raz Guzmán brings to Greenberg Traurig more than 20 years of experience representing lenders and borrowers in a diverse range of financing transactions. He has also garnered active participation in local and cross-border debt and equity securities transactions for issuers and underwriters, as well as in tender offers, buyouts and joint ventures. Moisés focuses his practice on banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions and real estate. Before joining Raz Guzmán Abogados, he was senior counsel and compliance officer at GE Capital Real Estate Mexico. Greenberg Traurig’s Mexico City office has now grown to approximately 60 lawyers.
