Herbert Smith cancels move to Guinea

Herbert Smith Freehills has decided not to open up, as planned, this spring in the West African state of Guinea.

The firm announced in October that client interest - especially in energy and infrastructure - had prompted it to open an office in the capital of Conakry. The base would, initially at least, have focused on corporate work and projects. But, in a statement published in Legal Week, the firm said it would not go ahead with the project and would continue to service Francophone African client needs, including Guinea, with its current resources.
