HSF dominates FTSE litigation rankings

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has emerged as the most popular firm for FTSE 100 companies in High Court and Court of Appeal (CoA) cases.

Data gathered for The Lawyer Market Intelligence tool has shown the firm was instructed on 11 cases brought by FTSE 100 companies with reported judgements between Jan 2012 and July 2015.

Magic Circle down the ranks

Hogan Lovells was instructed in seven cases, while Addleshaw Goddard, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Clyde & Co, DLA Piper and Norton Rose Fulbright each advised on five cases. Magic Circle firms were trailing behind, with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters both being instructed on four FTSE 100 cases in the time period and Clifford Chance on three. Allen and Ovary made no appearance.

In total, 53 firms were instructed by FTSE 100 companies in the time period, along with 112 QCs and 116 juniors from roughly 60 sets. Source: The Lawyer
