Indian law firms in merger

Advani & Co, lawyers to BP and Colgate-Palmolive in India, is taking part in its second merger in two years - to take the size of the practice to 60 lawyers.

Advani, the arbitration and commercial law firm, is merging with litigation specialist Nehru & Co, and the combined firm will be known as Advani Nehru & Co. The combination will mean that the firm is represented in three cities - Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune.

'A vacuum'

Ranjan Nehru, founder of Nehru, told the Economic Times: 'There is a vacuum in Pune when it comes to serving local corporate clients and we intend to plug that gap. We will focus on IT, automobile, pharmaceutical, real estate and hospitality companies in Pune.'
