Australia’s intelligence service has met with major law firms to warn them on security issues and to help them assess their risks when dealing with China.
A report in The Australian Financial Review said that Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) had warned the law firms to improve their technology to better handle cyber and document security. According to the newspaper, a number were advised to improve their procedures, particularly regarding the use of electrical devices when visiting China.
The organization not only focuses on threats to national security such as terrorism and espionage, it deals with broader issues.A spokesman told the paper that it engages with Australian businesses “on a regular basis to build awareness of these threats.”
