Her continuation in the role is being hotly disputed and challenged and is the subject of legal action. She was also instructed at one stage to write an opinion on whether her appointment was legal, which she did, finding that the appointment was robust. Now, councilman Mark Schellenberg is calling for another vote. He told Jacksonville.com: 'Although it will skip a couple of steps, if the council will confirm her, it will stop this…I think this is a huge distraction.  If the mayor would have actually followed the process, we would be where we need to be.'
