Jacksonville GC saga continues with new vote proposal

Jacksonville general counsel Cindy Laquidara may face another council vote on whether she should continue in her role.

Her continuation in the role is being hotly disputed and challenged and is the subject of legal action. Although she was confirmed in her position in 2011, the challenges are based on whether the correct process was followed to confirm her. She was also instructed at one stage to write an opinion on whether her appointment was legal, which she did, finding that the appointment was robust. Now, councilman Mark Schellenberg is calling for another vote. He told Jacksonville.com: 'Although it will skip a couple of steps, if the council will confirm her, it will stop this…I think this is a huge distraction.  If the mayor would have actually followed the process, we would be where we need to be.' The councilman filed a resolution in June seeking Ms Laquidara's dismissal.
