US law firm Jenner & Block has boosted its London office with the promotion of litigation specialist Lizzie Shimmin to partner. Ms Shimmin, a solicitor advocate with a broad commercial practice, is among a diverse group of 12 lawyers who have been elevated to the partnership throughout the firm. She has advised financial institutions and corporates in a range of complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters as well as regulatory investigations and deals with clients across various industry sectors, including banking, energy and defense. Commenting on the promotion, Charlie Lightfoot, managing partner of the London office and co-chair of the firm’s International Arbitration Practice, said Ms Shimmin was 'a terrific lawyer who clients and colleagues consistently turn to for counsel on important matters, and her promotion is another important step in strengthening our offering in London.'

London office expands

Ms Shimmin is the third London-based lawyer who has been promoted to partner since the office opened in 2015. James Woolrich was made a partner in January 2018 and Kelly Hagedorn in January 2017. Since opening with two lawyers, the London office has grown to 20 lawyers, including senior English- and US-qualified lawyers, and is gorwing its practice in complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and white collar defence and investigations.
