The Boston office of global law firm K&L Gates has recruited a six partner team from Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough which includes lawyers specialising in the luxury markets. Christopher Finnerty, an antitrust and competition lawyer, heads up a multidisciplinary team that advises clients in regards to global price maintenance, distribution, and gray market suppression strategies. He also counsels luxury brands on impact of Internet brand dilution and counterfeiting matters.
Trade infringement
Jeffrey Patterson litigates claims on behalf of financial services institutions in matters at both the trial and appellate levels across the United States, also representing clients in the antitrust and intellectual property areas. He led the trial team that obtained the first contributory trademark infringement jury verdict against an SEO for its optimisation of a website selling counterfeit products, and was a member of the executive committee at Nelson Mullins.
Pricing challenges
'We are delighted to welcome this highly talented team of lawyers to K&L Gates’ Boston office,' stated Mark Haddad, administrative partner of the Boston office of K&L Gates. 'With practices that resonate in client markets important to this firm and its clients -- the financial services industry and global corporations faced with strategic distribution and pricing challenges in the Internet age -- our new partners will fortify and enhance our practices in profoundly important respects.'
Serving business interests
Joining Patterson and Finnerty in the move to K&L Gates are fellow partners Morgan Nickerson, Sean Higgins, David Fialkow, and Michael Murphy. Patterson and Finnerty commented: 'Combining our global distribution, antitrust, and financial services practice with the K&L Gates platform was a natural fit, enabling our team to draw on the depth of the firm’s experience and the breadth of the firm’s platform to service clients’ business needs on a global basis.'
