King & Spalding adds fourth Ashurst partner to Tokyo office

The office is particularly intended to strengthen the firm's global energy practice, with all four of the Ashurst group being energy specialists.

Three of the Ashurst partners - John McClenahan, Mark Davies and Chris Bailey - joined in June and the fourth, Rupert Lewi, joins next month. In its statement, King & Spalding says that the 'renowned team' acts for 'major Japanese and Korean entities in the energy and resources sector, including export credit agencies and financial institutions'.

King & Spalding has some 800 lawyers in 18 offices, including the Tokyo base. The Tokyo office will work with colleagues in Singapore to 'anchor King & Spalding’s energy practice throughout the Asia-Pacific region'. The Tokyo office is the firm's 10th outside the US. Source: King & Spalding
