The law firm has linked up with the international Legal Group (ILG) of Kuwait, a firm which specialises in litigation and arbitration as well as constitutional law, commercial, corporate and banking and finance.
Baker Botts managing partner Andrew Baker said the firm was excited about the prospects the alliance offered. “Many of our key clients are active in Kuwait and out arrangement with ILG will enable us to work for them more effectively.”
ILG chairman, Dr Rashid Alanezi said the new arrangement would enable his firm “to offer our Kuwaiti client base a breadth of experience that is superior to that otherwise available in the Kuwaiti legal market."
Long history
The alliance adds another arm to Baker Botts in the Middle East where it already has offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, having operated for 40 years with over 25 lawyers on the ground.
The launch was attended by James Baker, the former US Secretary of State when Kuwait was attacked by Iraq, who is a senior partner in the firm.He said he held ‘a special place in my heart for Kuwait and the people of this wonderful country.’
