The layoffs are part of a wide-reaching cutback program currently sweeping the firm’s European operations. In March, staff at the firm were informed that around 24 partners would be asked to leave the firm as part of a dramatic 15 per cent cull of its 160-strong partnership in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The decision placed a question mark above approximately 45 business services positions across KWM’s nine EUME offices. The review is the second to hit the London legacy SJ Berwin arm of KWM in the last year, and follows news of other mass cuts to business services headcounts at fellow City firms DLA Piper and Dentons.
