According to the Wall Street Journal, Diamond McCarthy have made a discovery request to subpoena 36 law firms and one accounting firm to investigate claims over client matters the partners brought with them to the new firms and compensation figures. Amongst the firms Diamond McCarthy are requesting subpoenas for is Winston & Strawn LLP, which is believed to have hired at least eight ex-Dewey partners. The claims for ‘unfinished business’ against the firms follows on from Dewey’s  $71.5 million settlement it received last year after partners returned some of the fees they obtained before the firm went into bankruptcy.
